Community Polytechnic
Our Institution has been selected to implement the Project "Scheme of Community Development through Polytechnics" under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Higher Education). The key objectives are to impart skill development training and support services to rural masses and slum dwellers. Currently 5 Centres have been opened where courses in tailoring, embroidery, mobile repairing, computer skills etc. are being provided.
Value based Programmes
Sophia Cooverji Hormusji Bhabha Foundation Programme in Ethics and Spirituality
This programme aims at enabling each student to get in touch with her/his deepest self, realizing the inter-connectedness thereby with the entire universe. Value education sessions, workshops, seminars, field trips and inter-departmental programmes are held in order to effect positive changes in attitudes that will gradually lead to the constructive transformation of society at large, beyond the boundaries of academic learning.
Outreach
Christmas and other Outreach Programmes conducted by all the classes
One of the distinguishing characteristics of the Sophia Polytechnic is its emphasis not only on academic and professional excellence but also on the all-round development of the students.
The Sophia Polytechnic Alumni Association
The Sophia Polytechnic Alumni Association (SPOLAA) was established to encourage ex-students to keep in touch with their Alma Mater and with each other. Besides the activities organized by each Department for its ex-students, the SPOLAA NITE held bi-annually brings together the alumni of all Departments for an evening of fun, sharing and dinner. A highlight is the 'Sophia Achievers Award' given to ex-students who have made an outstanding contribution to society at large through their expertise in their own fields.
